Wedding of Heather and Joel

I first met with Heather and Joel back in September to discuss their wedding plans and how I could help them. Shortly thereafter, they hired me to assist with some of their planning, to coordinate their wedding and to design all their flowers as well as provide some rental items.

Heather and Joel were on a very, very tight budget. Therefore, we went back and forth a few times to tweak various items, but came up with what turned out to be a very simple, yet elegant wedding and stayed well within their budget.

Their color scheme was purple and white. Heather loves purple and wanted to make sure there was enough purple incorporated into her wedding. We chose to alternate purple and white linens as well as using chair sashes to help dress up the ceremony as well as the reception room.

The flowers were kept simple and stayed within the color scheme. I think the altar arrangements are one of my favorite designs to date. I used a 10” tall square vase and added purple gossamer inside. I then secured the soaked floral foam on top and carefully inserted the flowers. Once again – simple, yet elegant. I used lavender roses and pine greenery for the bridesmaids bouquets and for the bride’s bouquet, I used purple anemone, white roses, lavender mini-calla lilies and surrounded it with pine greenery. The groom’s boutonniere consisted of two lavender mini-calla lilies. To keep within their budget, instead of having floral centerpieces, I used silver lanterns on glass mirror tiles with rose petals sprinkled around.

Catering was provided by My Kitchen Catering. Upon exiting the ceremony, guests were served hot cider as they mingled and picked up their escort cards. My clients chose beef stroganoff, salmon and vegetable lasagna for their luncheon buffet. The wedding cake was also provided by My Kitchen Catering and may I say, it was delicious!

Peter Bang of Peter Bang Photography did an outstanding job. He was so quiet and unobtrusive you barely knew he was there taking photos. Love that kind of photographer.

Heather and Joel are now enjoying their honeymoon in sunny and warm Hawaii. I am envious right now as the east coast is experiencing freezing temperatures.

Thanks, Heather and Joel, for allowing me to help you have a smooth wedding.
